Bill & Helen Fletcher Sportsmanship Award:

This trophy is awarded to one of our sailors who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during the year by:

  1. Sailing at a competitive level in club and inter-club events, including competition at a State our National level

  2. Being a good ambassador for DSC when attending interclub regattas

  3. Being a good role model for other junior sailors

  4. Being involved in on-shore DSC activities and being very committed to the sport of sailing

The winner in 2026 is Alessandra Oliver

Alessandra, or more commonly Alice Oliver, has sailed a Sabot for many years at Drummoyne Sailing Club, competing in Zone, State, and National Championships.

Alice is a truly deserving recipient of the Bill and Helen Fletcher Award for Sportsmanship, consistently demonstrating the values this award represents both on and off the water proudly representing her club with determination, humility and respect.

Alice is known not only for her competitive spirit but also for the way she supports those around her. She is a positive and inclusive presence within the fleet, always looking out for younger sailors, offering a helping hand at the end of the day, and ensuring everyone feels part of the team. Whether leading SNSW chants at regattas, rallying others with her enthusiasm, or volunteering whenever there is a job to be done, Alice embodies what it means to be a great club ambassador.

Her commitment to sailing, her leadership among her peers, and her genuine kindness make her an outstanding role model. Alice’s contribution to the club community and her passion for the sport make her a very worthy winner of this award.
