Learn to sail - a sport for life

Looking for an activity for your child or grandchild to participate in during the October Spring Holidays, what about Sailing? – a sport for life.

Drummoyne Sailing Club’s Learn to Sail (LTS) is open to 8-14 year old girls and boys, with no or little previous sailing experience. The LTS course offers instruction in basic sailing and boat handling skills, enabling a child to build confidence in sailing a small dinghy. Concepts include; capsize recovery, sail trim, boat terminology, points of sail, upwind sailing, tacking, gybing, with an overall emphasis on FUN and safety, becoming comfortable on the water. All equipment including a PFD is provided.

By the end of the course, we expect participants to be able to complete a small ‘race’, guided and supervised by instructors.

Throughout the LTS, instructors will follow the Australian Sailing prescribed syllabus, with an emphasis not only on learning and progression but on safety and fun!

Learn to Sail courses are scheduled for both weeks of the upcoming October Spring School Holidays.
