Safety Briefing - Commodore’s Drinks - Working Bee - DrumMoyne Public School Fete

We had approximately 90 members in the Sailors Bar on Friday night for the pre-season safety briefing and then the Commodore's Drinks.

Two representatives from Transport for NSW Maritime gave a half hour presentation and fielded questions from sailors then Sailing Manager Andrew Glassock gave a brief overview and demonstration of the emergency plus app, the three designated emergency drop locations, the new DSC safety card for yachts and response boats and the need to be safety aware, a good day can turn bad fast.

Following the briefing members stayed on for the Commodore's Drinks.

On Sunday we had some 40 members turned up between 8 and 1pm for the pre-season working bee,

the boat shed was sorted out, cleaned out and boats rearranged.
Storage cages sorted out/cleaned out
Fridges cleaned/cleared out
Outside kitchen and BBQ area cleaned
New starters flag poles made up
Starters flag rolls updated with new flags
New DC7 jockey wheel - it now rolls!
The DSC7 had its new tubes installed - looking very flash
Club Flying 11s evaluated - and rigged - two are not worth salvaging and will be disposed of, leaving 3 useable club boats.
Fuel locker moved to be in compliance with distance off power source
Asphalt potholes in car park filled in by the OK road crew

Also on Sunday Renee Deerness and Katie Moor and a bunch of junior sailors flew the DSC flag at the Drummoyne Public School fete, they had a boat on display promoting the Club and its Learn to Sail Programs

It is just two weeks to Opening Day for the 2026-2027 Season on Saturday 12 September for Skiffs and Ts16s and Sunday 13 September for Sabots, ILCAs, Cherubs and OK Dinghys, with the Yachts twilights season commencing October 6th with Womens Helm practice race
